Bronze Height 4.8 cm. Width 14.5 cm. Depth 10 cm Monogrammed with the artist's mark 'MATARÉ' to the reverse. According to the catalogue raissoné, this work is probably a posthumous cast from an edition of at least seven known examples. - With the fine dark brown patina typical of estate casts. - With few, minor traces of age.

"Eingekauertes Rind" is designed as a recumbent figure, but can also stand vertically when placed upon the flat underside. Because of its smooth curves this piece belongs to the group of works known as "Handschmeichler" [lit. "hand charmer").
