A 17th century carved ivory figure of Christ with a skull, probably South German

Carved in the round and partially freestanding. A charming depiction of the Christ Child with His foot resting triumphantly upon a skull. He is shown wrapped in a cloth holding a globe and a cross in His hands. The snake from the Garden of Eden is shown coiled around the treestump beside him creeping down towards a drooping branch with an apple.
With vertical hairline cracks, otherwise in perfect condition. The reverse slightly yellowed. Height 9.5 cm.
