A Nuremberg bronze figure of a hunting groom, around 1570/1580

Cast in the round, chased, and with old patina.. Depicted is a standing bearded man facing left and blowing into a hunting horn. He is dressed in a doublet with puffed sleeves and trousers and carries a bag and a hunting knife hanging from a strap over his shoulder. The work would have originally formed part of a table fountain and can be attributed to a master employed in the foundry of Georg Labenwolf in Nuremberg.
The spear replaced. Very minor wear. Loosely mounted on an associated mortar converted into a base. Height 24.5 cm (without spear and base)..
