A Meissen porcelain dinner plate from the service for Carlo Francesco Vincenzo Ferrero
Plate with scalloped rim decorated above with the coat of arms supported by two mermaids and surrounded by the collar of the Order of the Annunciation against an ermine drapery. The well painted with a large rose, a sprig of white currants, forget me nots, and insects. Blue crossed swords mark, dreher's number 16. A small restored rim chip at 7 o'clock, minor localised wear to the glaze. D 23.4 cm.

Carlo Francesco Vincenzo Ferrero, Marchese d'Ormea (1680 - 1745) served as diplomat and envoy of the Sardinian crown under the reign of Vittorio Amadeus II (1666 - 1732) and his son Carlo Emmanuele I (1701 - 1773) in Dresden. From the archives of the Meissen manufactury it is not clear for what reason and when the king ordered the service for the marchese and gave it to him, nor is the exact amount of the order known.
