Decor design attributed to Theodor Grust, c. 1898/1900.

Theodor Grust (1857 - 1919) is mostly known for his work as provisional administrator and inspector of the painting department at the Meissen manufactory, a position which he is known to have occupied since at least 1906. After studying at the Dresden art academy and working for a short time in Munich, Belgium, and Holland, he entered the manufactory as a painting assistant in 1898 and soon became head of the painting studio. He is also known as a designer of new and fashionable crockery and vase forms and established himself as a capable and important representative of the Jugendstil movement in Meissen.
