A Meissen porcelain cup and saucer commemorating the Saxon royal couple

Painted with a portrait of a lady in silhouette in a yellow ground reserve, the saucer with a portrait of a gentleman. Blue crossed swords mark with star, further blue marks in the basal ring, dreher's mark. H of cup 6.3, D of saucer 13.5 cm.
Circa 1806, decor attributed to Samuel Mohn.

"These silhouette portraits of Friedrich August I, appointed King of Saxony in 1806, and his wife Maria Amalie Auguste, née Countess Palatine of Zweibrücken-Birkenfeld-Bischweiler, are painted on a delicate yellow ground. It is likely that the cup was painted by Samuel Mohn (1762 - 1815) on the occasion of Friedrich August's accession to the throne."
