A rare Meissen porcelain courtship group

A three figure group depicting a lady seated on a grassy knoll rebuffing the advances of an over-zealous cavalier, whilst a small putto stands behind him, pulling on his hair. Smoothed, unmarked base. Restorations to a firing crack in the base, and to the extremities. H 16.5 cm.

Ingelore Menzhausen has proposed that the inspiration for Kaendler's group was William Hogarth's painting "After", which the artist himself published via engravings beginning in 1736.
In his 1997 catalogue, Ulrich Pietsch quotes Kaendler's taxa for the Harlequin and calls the group "The Insistent Lover". The group with the harlequin exhibited in 1997 shows very similar painting to the group without the harlequin presented here.
