An Ayutthaya bronze figure of a standing Buddha. Thailand. 15th/16th century

Standing upright, the right hand raised in abhayamudra, the left hanging down, spreading the robe, under the tight-fitting uttarasangha covering both shoulders, the middle and belly folds of the lower robe are clearly visible, head and ushnisha are covered by small pointed curls, a flame ornament inserted into the ushnisha. Traces of black lacquer and gilding, the body surface partially painted over, the eyes painted in white and black. The feet replaced and nailed to a bronze plate set into a wooden base.
