A pair of candlesticks from the Dresden court silver

Round moulded bases with central troughs supporting baluster-form shafts with cylindrical nozzles. Monogrammed "FA" to the undersides and inscribed with inventory nos. 45 and 54 and the weights "1 Mr: 2 lt. 1q. 2d" and "1 Mr: 2 lt. - q. 3d". H 15.4 cm, weight 522 g.
Dresden, marks of Carl David Schrödel, around 1770.

This pair of candlesticks comes from one of the six silver services that O'Byrn recorded in the inventory of the Dresden Court Silver Collection until 1880. On p. 148 of his notes he mentions "124 smooth moulded candlesticks, drawn (FA), with monogram C.D.S.". A set of twelve is now in the collection of the Green Vault in Dresden.
