A Meissen porcelain snuff box with hunting scenes

Gold-mounted snuff box decorated on six faces with hunting scenes in copper oxide green surrounded by rocaille reliefs. The inside of the lid with elegant company in the manner of Watteau. The porcelain unmarked, the mountings with an unidentified maker's mark and later safety mechanism. A restored breakage to the lid, a crack to the front face. H 5, W 8.1, D 6.5 cm.
Mid-18th C.

The scene on the inside of the lid may have been painted by Philipp Ernst Schindler sen. (1694 - 1765). The hunting motifs are inspired by the prints of Johann Elias Ridingers (1698 - 1767).
