A large and amusing ivory netsuke of Hotei. 18th century

Hotei cowers with head placed in his hands and arms resting on the bag in front of him, grimacing with pain. A moxa piece is placed on the left side of his bare back while a dark spot is on the opposite side. One of the karako holds chopsticks and a small ball for applying moxa, the other karako sits with an object on his feet.
