An unusual ivory netsuke of Sôjôbo teaching Yoshitsune military strategy, inside an egg, by Shûraku. Late 19th century

Ushiwakamaru, the name of Yoshitsune as a boy, with a spread out scroll and Sôjôbô with a feather fan sitting side by side in a cracked egg on a rockwork base. The tengu’s cap and the end knobs of the scroll of black horn. Signed Shûraku in a polished rectangular reserve.
