A stained ivory netsuke of a Pekinese dog. Early 19th century

The chin-type dog reclines on a stiff fan and wears a collar around its neck with fine chrysanthemums and scrolls in engraving, on the reverse a bat in flight with outspread wings in low relief. The dog’s eyes of light horn, the pupils of black horn.
