Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1798-1861)

Two ôban from the series Kintarô zukushi. Signed: Ichiyûsai Kuniyoshi ga. Published by Tsujiokaya Bunsuke around 1840. a) Title: Sumô no zu. Sumo match between monkey and hare, with Kintarô as referee. Oni and karasutengu watch. b) Title: Onigashima no asobi. Kintarô sits with his axe on a platform which is carried by ogres. (2) Good impressions, colours a bit faded, fair conditions (rubbed, soiled, creased, flattened centre folds, backed).
