A wood netsuke of a baku. Early 21st century

The eater of bad dreams stands on large paws turning its head and raising its trunk. The eyes of amber (?). Signed in an oval reserve Shigejo. Tomobako, inscribed on the lid “kichimu” (good dream) and signed and sealed Shigejo.
Height 5.5 cm

Ito Shigejo is a female netsuke carver. In May 2015 she was represented in an exhibition at the Seisho Netsukekan in Kyoto mainly with carvings of cats.
