A splendid and impressive narwhal tusk netsuke of a single-horned hakutaku. 18th century

Seated turned to the left on a flat base, the edge accentuated by the natural brown skin of the tusk, head lowered and mouth open, the tail fanned out resembling that of a shishi, while tongues of flames emanate from the joints at the forelegs.
