A fine and rare ivory netsuke of two dried salmons and two rats. Early 19th century

Two large and well-fed rats sit on top of two shiosake placed across each other, with cross-hatched scales, large heads and mouths wide open, the bodies marked by several small holes and one large opening suggesting decay. The rats' eyes of black horn.
