A four-case inrô. 19th century

Displaying two tengu sitting in a shallow basket amidst sugi branches on one side, and an oni with a pestle grinding in a mortar on the other side, in takamaki-e, red, green, brown and black lacquer with small gold-foil inlays on a sabiji ground imitating iron. Signed with a large seal reading Takamitsu/Kôkô. Black lacquer and fundame to the inside. Ojime in shape of a metal cylinder with patterns in gold and a modern wood netsuke of two frogs.
