A large and unusual walrus tusk near-manjû of Yôkô. 19th century

Carved partly in openwork with a fierce tiger attacking Yôkô on one side and an old man sitting by a rock with a teapot on the other. The eye pupil of the tiger inlaid in metal.
Width 4.9 cm

This is one of the Twenty-four Paragons of Filial Piety. Yôkô threw himself at the tiger thereby enabling the old man to flee, the son on the other hand was devoured by the tiger.
